Sidetracked

Why is getting back on track so hard????

Why does Mt. Dew have to taste so good???

Why does my body crave chocolate every damn day???

Why do I still want to be in vacation mode when I am clearly no longer on vacation???

Why can't I have some freakishly high metabolism like The Rockstar???

These are the questions I have been asking myself today as I tried to "get back on track"

I did "some" better today, but I have to do even better tomorrow. I went grocery shopping today. I completely got "sidetracked" when I saw this...

Since you can see my coffee maker in the background you probably guessed that they made their way home with me. I normally don't even drink Coke, but I love an ice cold Coke in a glass bottle. It reminds me being at my grandmother's when I was little. I  drank half of one and gave the other 3 to my mother...she loves Coke in a glass bottle too. They are only 8 oz each, so I didn't beat myself up too bad about having 4 oz.

So I wouldn't say I am completely back on track...but I'm not completely derailed either. That's a start :)

That is why I send the hubby grocery shopping with a list. I can't get sidetracked then. ;)

I to am a mt dew junkie, Even after finding out they are a trigger that can cause me to have a migraine. WHY OH WHY is the pull so great. There is a drug in there for sure. lol

Its all about doing a bit better than the day before and then those micro changes add up to a a big shift in behavior until it becomes habit. And breaking our associations with certain triggers...for me - I turn to sugar to calm down = immediate relief, I'm desparately trying to brake that association and change it to exercise.

Those are the cutest little things I've ever seen! I need to make a trip to the grocery store. For scientific research, of course. =P

Also, no answers on the cravings... I got 'em for cake this weekend and I went with it. lol

Isn't it funny how we have such emotional associations with certain foods - the look, feel, smell - it's the whole thing, more than the actual taste I think! My grandma used to always make me toast and tea (half milk tea with honey) for breakfast when I stayed with her, so that is one of mine. Another used to be popcorn at movies, but luckily I'm mostly over that, since I've felt sick after eating it a few times now - but that one had me for YEARS!!! Anyway, I think it was a really good catch on your part, that you stopped at half a bottle, and gave the rest away. You didn't go all "all or nothing" with it, you dusted off and moved on down the road! Great job!

Good for you for only drinking 4 oz then giving the other bottles away! That rocks! :)
