Kayleigh's heart and little body had endured far than what everyone thought she could make it through on many occassions. She was a fighter. But even fighters get tired. She was struggling for every breath she took. I rushed her to the vet and they gave her some meds and oxygen. She was still struggling. The vet said she didn't think Kayleigh would make it through the night. I knew that Kayleigh would want to be at home in the comfort of our bed.
She never made it to the bed. As soon as we got home with her she looked up at me with her big brown eyes as she struggled for every breath. I leaned over and whispered in her ear that it was ok to stop fighting...mommy would be fine. She laid her little head over on me and took her last breath.
RIP my sweet baby girl. Mommy loves you.

I am so sorry for your loss ~ I know that pain too well unfortunately. You can lean on me if you need to. Its a horrible horrible thing to go through. You gave her a wonderful life.

My heart goes out to you today. I've had to put down three pets, and all three times I have felt more pain and loss that losing a human family member.It is a horrible thing to do and to go through. Wouldn't it be wonderful if they had a life span as long as ours? I don't know about you but I believe that we will see them again. I can't wait to have Hunter tickle my face with his whiskers, to see Misty to tilt her head just so, and Max to be his usual badass self. Now your dear Kaleigh is doing her thing, without being hampered by her health issues. Think of her this way.

Barbie I am so very sorry for your loss. I have tears streaming down my face as I write this. I know your pain. I had to put my beautiful Ariel down 11/5/2007 and it still hurts. I held her in my arms and told her she was the best dog in the world. Your life is better for having had Kayleigh in it!

I am crying while reading this. I have lost a few babies and very few people really get how it hurts to your soul. They are the best part of us.
my eyes begin to water at work as i expected they would as i read this. I am so sorry for your loss.
When I lost my Sammy years ago it was the same thing as i slowly watched him get slower and harder for him to do the day to day things. I would have to help him more. When he finally past I was a wreck. I wound up having him creamated and stread his ashes in his favorite forest walk spot. I kept a small amount of his ashes and cast them into a silver "bone" charm I wear on my wrist to this day.
