I have been in training all this week. In special ed there is A LOT of paperwork to do and we are going to a completely new system for all that paperwork. The bad news is... I am lost as last year's Easter egg. The good news is...so is everyone else since it's to new to them too.
Since this system is specifically for special ed paperwork, the entire special ed department for our school is also at this training. In case you didn't know, most teachers hate any kind of inservice. I, myself, have even referred to these days as Teacher Hell. However, the one thing that we all usually like about it is that we get to eat out for lunch like grown ups. Or at least that was the part I loved before getting banded.
In the past 3 days I have been to a Greek restaurant, a Japanese restaurant, and a Mexican restaurant.
By now everyone in my department knows I am banded, so I no longer get any questions about why I didn't eat very much, or why I am not drinking any thing. Thank goodness...because I had a ton of food left on my plate each day.
I still feel like I am in the learning process for eating out. It has not been easy. I feel like I waste way too much food. I know I spend too much money on food I don't eat. Thankfully my co workers are not shy about just eating what they want off my plate...like the fried rice I soooo wanted to eat, but knew that would not go so well.
Tomorrow it's back to the classroom as usual. I think I shall steer clear of the scale for several days.

What is the new system? My district uses IEP pro, I've also used GoalView. :) Good luck. Inservice does suck!
Oh in services SUCK, big big time!!!
I hear you on the "teacher hell!". I dread in service days most of the time.
No one at my school knows I am banded....you are brave!
Eating out is really hard and definitely takes some getting used to. I almost always get kid's meals
That is great that your colleagues know and aren't weird about it... I havent told anyone around me except for the fiancee and my sister. So when I have to go out to eat with friends or family, I get serious anxiety which makes the band even more difficult!! xxx
my last 2 days of eating has sucked because of free food at a conference I was at...I'm avoiding the scale as well. I try to only order things I know will reheat well. That way I can eat the leftovers. :)
INSET sucks globally! Lucky you having lunch out though, we have SHORTER lunches on those days "because we don't have the children to deal with!" Grrr!
I am going to have to rebel and say as a non-teacher I love inservice days. Of course my last encounter with them was as a kid and I got to stay home!! Yah!!
I wanted to ask about telling the people you work with about your band, when you first started this new job you weren't going to. Why did you change your mind?
I agree inservice days are TERRIBLE!! Since I took a week off school last year and our PE teacher will not wear his hearing aid, most of my entire school knows that I am banded. So they are very curious about the band and analyze what I eat on a daily basis. Eating out stresses me out, too. It is better if I can get a menu ahead of time but that is not always possible. :)
