Dancing a Jig

Today is my last official day of Christmas break. Back to work tomorrow. Ugh. You know what that means, don't ya?? It means I will be dusting off my dancing shoes and dancing a jig...the snow dance to be exact. No, there is no call for snow in the near future, but a girl can hope.

I have set my goals for 2012. Here they are:

  • Get a new job by August (by the start of the new school year). Prior to this year I taught in a life skills class (Down's Syndrome, Autistic, ect) for more than 10 years. I LOVED my job. This year Lucifer decided I should be in the Behavior class (gangbangers, felons, emotionally disturbed) and I now do NOT love my job. I need to get back in a class where I feel like I am making a difference.

  • Get to goal weight by December 31, 2012

  • Finish writing my Thesis so I can graduate in May with my EdS. I am completely done with all of my coursework, I just have to finish my Thesis and go to defense. I really don't know why I have been procrastinating on this...I could have graduated in December.

  • Clean out my attic. Every time I think about doing this I get overwhelmed about how much junk is in there and I don't even know where to start. This year I am just going to dive in and not worry about where to start...it doesn't matter where I start, only that I finish.
That's it for now. Now, time to go find my dancing shoes :)

forecast is 50's and 60's here...of course during break we got major snow, the kind of snow that would give you two snow days in a row...but now, nothing in the forecast :(

good luck with your jig...

Good Goals for 2012! By the way, 'Dancing a Jig' was one of my Mom's favorite sayings!

LOVE your goals and I believe wholeheartedly that you'll achieve them! One thing though...you WANT snow?? Really??! I'll send you some of ours--I can't stand it and do the "no snow" prayer all winter!

I love your goals as well. Also, love that you enjoy teaching Autistic persons, my 5 year old grandson is Autistic.

Happy New Year!

Great goals! I don't blame you for being frustrated with your job. That takes the kind of patience I just don't have.

Hi Barbie! I just found your blog through Amy W. I wanted to drop by and give you some support. I was banded in February 2010 and have lost 110 lbs. I've been at goal for more than a year. Come by http://amandakiska.blogspot.com

re: cleaning out the attic - I posted on Facebook the other day: the key to me staying on top of organizing is plenty of garbage bags ! :)

Teaching a lovely class can make the world of difference. I cleared out my loft 2 years ago and I had that same feeling sick thinking about it thing. Finally I sat downstairs and made a list of everything I could think of in the loft that I wanted to keep (Christmas decorations, box of childhood toys, fans for hot weather, suitcases etc) and everything else went. I worked on the logic that if I can't even remember it's up there, I obviously don't need it. Hope this helps. xx
