Waste not, Want not

One of the hardest things for me to do throughout this journey has to been to be ok with throwing away food. My grandmother always said "waste not, want not"...and I have even been guilty of saying it to my own kids.

At home I am really good about putting smaller portions on my plate (I also use small plates), but when you go out to eat you can't control the portions they bring you. I automatically ask for a to go box so all that food isn't sitting right in front of me. The problem is, I don't eat reheated meat. So many times I end up throwing it away. It still makes me feel guilty to throw food away.

Not sure what's going on with my body. I haven't lost much weight over the past few weeks (3 pounds or so), but all of my pants are getting too big. I just bought several pairs of pants over fall break (early October) and now all of those pants are baggy on me.

I am not one of those people who realize I am gaining or losing weight based on how my clothes fit. When my clothes are getting tight I always think "I can't believe I have had this for a year and the dryer is just now shrinking it" or if it's getting baggy I think "damn cheap ass material...it's starting to stretch out".

In unrelated news, I have officially been in regular shoes for over a week. My poor little piggies are screaming for release by the end of the day. Flip flop weather come back!!!!!!

I with you my southern friend!

It makes me crazy to throw food out. I will eat it before I toss it and I cannot do leftovers - can you say stuck!

I was wearing socks with sandals after the cold weather arrived for weeks because I could not stand my closed shoes. I did however find a pair of purple boots that I had stretched out so they didn't feel so suffocating and they are so cute and I am getting lots of compliments on them so I like wearing them and I dont look as stupid as wearing sox and sandals. LOL

Missing you lots xo

I too have a terrible time throwing away food. Fortunately, I can always feed leftovers to my distance-runner husband, who can pack away any amount of calories without gaining weight.

Sounds like the last 3 lbs. all came off your booty!

I have a really difficult time throwing food away. In organizing our kitchen last weekend, I ended up throwing away quite a lot of unopened food, and I felt like an ass. When I move, I'm not going to be able to take my chest freezer, and I'm already mourning all of the steaks and frozen vegetables that I'll have to get rid of.

Winter doesn't stop us in Colorado from flip flops :D snow does...but we've been known to wear them on a balmy 60 degree December day :D

so with you on wasting food...I think I gained 20 pounds just from finishing my kids' left over chicken nuggets.

love that clothes are looser..sometimes it takes awhile for the scale to catch up...wish it were an exact science!

Baggy clothes is a plus!! You probably just lost inches in those 3 lbs. I've found sometimes the scale will not move even when your inches are!

Boo Hiss on the flip-flop front. I feel ya sister.

Totally feel ya on the restaurant food dear. I always bring it home, and rarely (read almost never) eat it. Guilt guilt guilt...

Umm....when you have less weight to lose, you lose less weight? 3 pounds over the last several weeks is probably good???? Didn't you say a few days ago you were down to size 10?

Anywho, good for you for not "dumping" the food in your piehole. ;-) And so very sorry about the flip flops. :-( You could still wear them here, it is 70-80 degrees still.
