Today is Tuesday and ya know what that means... the kids get out of school early and the adults have a "social" gathering. Kids get out early and teachers are supposed to do professional development, which we actually do, but it is also an excuse to have a "social". That's what they call it...but it's really just a code word for "let's eat a bunch of shit and chit chat".
Each time we have a social there is usually a "theme". Today's theme was "Souper Tuesday".
We had every kind of of soup, chili, bread, cracker, and dessert you could think of. Here is just part of what the lounge looked like...
I made chicken and dumplins for the social. I don't eat the dumplins, but I do eat the broth and the chicken.
It is so hard not to overeat at these socials. I usually really suck at sticking to a plan on social days. I sucked at it today. I ate homemade pound cake (OMG it was soooooo good!), homemade pimento cheese, and chili and cheese.
Oh well, what has been done is done. Can't change it now. I actually don't even really feel that bad about it. Of course I may be singing a different tune the next time I get on the scale.
By the way, in case you were wondering....I sent my sister a text today asking her if this weekend was good for meeting for lunch. I told her to pick the restaurant...my treat. She hasn't texted me back. Oh well...maybe she needs to think about it ( I know she read it because my phone tells me when the text has been read).
Happy Tuesday! Tomorrow is hump day!!!!

oh, man, i totally hear ya on the job over eating thing.
I used to work at a school that had a reason to eat every freaking month! and it was ALWAYS a not so healthy menu.
and when i suggested we include some healthy items on the menu because at the time i had just been diagnosed with diabetes i got looks like i had two heads sprouting.
soooo freaking hard to stay on track there!
I'm glad I work at a place that doesn't even have a vending machine, let alone potlucks. We do have a candy bowl, but just one. And we're nowhere near anywhere to buy food. If people were bringing in homemade goodies all the time, I'd be diving into them face-first. But it doesn't sound like your choices were that terrible.
I am glad you reached out to your sister. I hope it ends well. And good job on skipping the dumplings :)
I made chicken and dumplings for supper tonight!
I'm telling you, I have to be so careful, there are so many excuses for food this time of year. geeze.
You know, the holidays can soften us, I'm not sure if that is the case with your sister on Thanksgiving Day, but we shall see. Keep us posted.

I'm so lucky we don't have any major food events around here. My last job I never would have been as successful. The only candy bowl is filled with wintergreen lifesavers! It does look delicious though, and what fun that you guys do that together.
I will keep my fingers crossed on your sister. Hopefully you can meet up soon. I'm sure it's a frustrating situation.
Good for you for reaching out. You can't say you are not putting forth the effort. Hopefully she does as well. Yum chicken and dumplings.....
work food sucks! I have to stay away from the lounge as much as possible. I just run in, fill the water bottle, eyes on floor, and run out.
That looks so good!!
I need to make me some soup!!! I used to make it every Sunday (then have leftovers for the week!) There are a ton of really healthy nummy ones.
I just can't find my cooking mojo. I think the dog ate it.
I'm sorry you and your sister are having a hard time connecting. :-( Family is complicated!!!
Potlucks are definitely a downfall of mine. I do better than I used to but still not stellar.
