Thanks to the gorgeous Laura Belle we have Ten Things Thursday!!
1. Can you believe that the gorgeous Laura Belle is pregnant???? How exciting!
2. They are calling for freezing rain and sleet here tonight. By 2:00 today they had already told us that we would be on a 2 hour delay tomorrow. They didn't even give me a chance to do my best snow dance before they decided I wouldn't get a snow day. Funsuckers.
3. My neighbors do NOT deserve to have a pet. It was 15 degrees here one night this week and they left their dog outside. Yes he has a dog house, but that is not enough on a night that cold. I swear I would have stolen the dog if he (the dog) would have let me in the fence without eating me alive.
The dog is some kind of a pit bull mix. He never receives any human contact. They go outside to fill up his food and water bowl and never even pay attention to him. It took him about a month before he would come up to the fence when Harleigh would go over there (she isn't scared of anything). As soon as I would walk up to the fence he would bark viciously and back up from the fence. It took me two months before I could get him to come close enough to me to give him a treat...but he would not let me pet him.
Finally, just yesterday (4 months since I have started going to the fence), he let me reach over the fence and pet him for the first time. He let me do it again today too. I am seriously thinking about going over there in a little bit to see if he will come to to gate and follow me over to my house so he can stay in for the night.
4. My student teacher started this week. I can tell she is scared to death to start teaching, but I know as soon as she gets over the jitters she will do great.
I have already been told that I will be getting another student teacher in August. Some people hate taking student teachers, but I really don't mind at all.
5. I haven't heard anything back yet from my insurance company about the tummy tuck. They said it could take a few weeks. I need to make an appt. with my band clinic to see if they think I need an unfill before having surgery.
6. I just recently noticed that I have several new followers. If you are a new follower, and I am not following you send me a link...also, make sure you have a "follow" button so other people can follow you :)
7. Can you believe that next week is February??? Come on summer break!!! I have already booked my condo at the beach for June. I usually go for my birthday, but this year I decided I would leave the day after my birthday and have a pool party here for my birthday. That way I get to spend my birthday with my family since they aren't allowed to go on the beach trips (my beach trips are always a "girls only" vacation).
8. Men who have issues taking directives from a female superior at their job get on my nerves. If you have issues taking directives from a woman, then perhaps you shouldn't enter a profession that is mostly female. And I am not easily bullied or back down from I know is right...so get over yourself and do your effing job.
9. One of my aides is having lapband surgery in 3 weeks. She has to do a two week liquid diet starting next week. I am so glad I didn't have to do that. I don;t think I would have ever made it through. I really don;t think she is fully prepared to have this done. I honestly think she sees how much weight I have lost and thinks that will automatically happen with her....yet she has already been talking about things she hopes she can still eat (bread, pasta, etc). Yeah, I don't think she is quite ready to do her part that will be required for success with the band. I will be her biggest supporter any way.
10. It is Thursday. Ya know what that means.....Grey's Anatomy!!!!!

Can't a girl just get one little snow day????
So every school system around me was closed today because of ice. Was my school closed?????? No, it was not. The schools on base almost never close for bad weather. If there is business as usual on post, then that means school is on. We did get to go in two hours late, but honestly, going in late just really messes up my schedule for the day. And my kids live by routine....so late day equals crazy day in my class.
The Rockstar has had the flu since the end of last week. Dealing with the flu is bad news, but having to deal with a man who has the flu is the worst. The Big Boy had knee surgery last week. So, for a solid week I feel like all I have done is take care of sickly boys. Thank goodness they are both on the mend now.
All of my paperwork was submitted to my insurance for my tummy tuck. My PCP wrote a letter stating why it was "medically necessary" to have this surgery. They said it would take a few weeks to hear anything. I had been planning on having the surgery during my spring break. The surgeon is going on vacation that week. So now I aiming for the week before.
My addiction to Mountain Dew and cereal is stronger than ever. I have been drinking Mountain Dew every single day when I wake up. I need to stop. I know that I need to stop. But yet, I just keep on doing it. I have also been eating cereal every day. I have, however, been sticking to eating less than a serving of it a day. How, you ask??? Well, I bought this handy dandy little measuring cup....

I also use this bowl as my cereal bowl....
This cute little Hello Kitty bowl is a one cup bowl. So, I measure 1/2 cup of cereal and 1/2 milk and put in my bowl. Don't be fooled by the Special K measuring cup. My drug of choice is Krave cereal....not Special K :)
I have a student teacher starting next week. I met her today for the first time. She is blonde, beautiful, and skinny. I hate her already. I think she will do great :)
So my coworkers obviously did not set any lose weigh kind of resolutions for the year. Yesterday we had a huge cake and punch to celebrate birthdays for the year. Friday morning we are having a breakfast potluck, which means every kind of pastry you can think of, hashbrown casseroles, homemade biscuits, and other delicious fattening foods. I didn't have any of the cake yesterday, but I did have some of the punch and man, oh man was it delicious. It was made with Ginger Ale, Almond extract, and Vanilla extract. It was yummy in my tummy (but I am sure hell on scale).
Well that's all I got for today. Toodaloo peeps!

Tummy tucks and snow dances
So I went for my tummy tuck consultation Friday. Good news and bad news...I got both.
When I go to the doctor (especially if I know I have to get undressed) I go through a whole ritual. I do what I call the "doctor's office shave"...that's where I shave extra good...like say, the same way you do when.... ya know... it's relations night ;) I also make sure I wear my best and prettiest panties and my best bra. Am I the only one who does this????
Any way...so I had to undress down to my bra and panties and put on a robe. The nurse came in and went over all the paperwork I had filled out. She left and then shortly returned with the doctor. He talked to me for a bit, then told me to stand up and take the robe off. I took the robe off and the first thing he said was "Who did your breasts?" Ha ha ha ha....damn, I gotta buy that same bra in every color. I said "God...and my mama". How funny is it that a plastic surgeon thought I had fake boobs?? He proceeded to feel me up and said "oh yeah, those are natural".
So on to the tummy tuck...
He said that most of the time with weight loss patients he recommends a body lift along with the tummy tuck, but he didn't think I needed one at all (good thing, because I had no plans to get one). He also said I had really good muscle tone and would probably need very little, if any muscle tightening.
Yay....all that is the good news. On to the bad news...
He said he doubted that insurance would cover it. He said it has become harder and harder to get insurance to pay for it any more. My PCP wrote up a letter stating that it was a medical necessity and the reasons why. The plastic surgeon said that my help, but not to get my hopes to high about it. The total cost of the surgery is $7950. I was very lucky with my lapband surgery only had to pay $70 out of pocket. I know I won;t be that lucky this time. I hope insurance will pay for at least part of it, but even if they won't, I still want to get it done. I am looking at getting it done over spring break. That's a lot of money...so I really need to think about it.
In unrelated tummy tuck news, today is the last day of my break. It has been a really good break. I miss my kids and will be happy to see them again, but I am NOT ready to hear that damn alarm clock again. It's time to dust off my dancing shoes and start doing the snow dance!

Ten Things Thursday!!
Thanks to the gorgeous Laura Belle we have Ten Things Thursday!!
It's been a hot minute since I have done a TTT, so I think it's about time.
1. I got my hair done this morning. I always feel so much better right after a fresh color and cut. My hair grows so fast that I color it myself every two weeks. I go to my hairdresser every 6 weeks and she highlights and cuts it. If I ever win the lottery I will pay someone to wash my hair every day and massage my scalp. I just love for someone to mess with my hair. I find it very relaxing.
2. The Big Boy tore his ACL and has to have surgery next week. He is 26 and stayed on my insurance until he was 25. This has been a big wake up call for him on insurance and deductibles and such. He had the MRI in December, which cost him a lot of money because he had not met his deductible. He was all kinds of pissed off when he realized yesterday that his deductible starts over in January. Bless his little heart. Being a grown up sucks sometimes.
3. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon to document my "medical necessity" for having a tummy tuck. If the insurance deems it medically necessary they will pay for the skin removal part, but not the muscle tightening. I need 3 months worth of documentation that the extra skin causes rashes, irritation, etc. I go to the plastic surgeon in the morning and he will further document and take pictures to submit to the insurance company. Who knows, maybe I will be rocking a bikini when I go to the beach in June :) You will be the first to see the pics if I do :)
4. I have been sleeping in late every day of my Christmas break. I love it. For some reason if I sleep late I am not a bit hungry until late in the day, but when I get up early and go to work I start getting hungry by 8 in the morning.
5. Harleigh has lost 3 teeth in the past week. I don't remember my other babies losing so many teeth so close together. I am hoping this means her teething phase and chewing on everything that isn't nailed down (and somethings that are) is coming to an end.
6. I made homemade French Onion soup the other night and it was so yummy!!!! I don't like onions (I pick them out), but I like onion flavor. I liked it so much I am thinking about making it again this weekend.
7. I have not had a fill in almost a year, but for some reason I have been really tight in the mornings for the past couple of weeks. I used to take a big ole drink of the dew first thing in the morning, but I haven't been able to do that at all since I have been on break.
8. I drink more water if I put it in a cup with a straw. I carry a cup to work with me every day. The Boy got me a new cup for Christmas. I love it.
9. I got several Kohl's gift cards for Christmas. I also had some Kohl's cash from doing a bunch of Christmas shopping there. I went the other day (before my Kohl's cash expired) and I bought 4 sweaters, a pair of pants and a bracelet. After using my Kohl's cash I only owed $14.00 and I used part of a gift card for that. I wish shopping was always that cheap for me :)
10. Speaking of buying new clothes....I am going to have to clean out my closets again. I have noticed that about half of the stuff in my closet doesn't really fit me any more. No complaints about it here :)

Happy New Year!
Happy New Year to all of y'all! I hope y'all were all safe on new year's eve and brought the new year in with the one's you love. Ours was pretty low key. We had a small party and nobody got so drunk that they puked...that is always good.
I am normally not much of a drinker, but I did partake in a few little drinky drinks that night. I was drinking this...
One of my bff's and I created a mixed drink using it and we named it the "Kinky Pinky"....it was really yummy.
I looked back at my goals for 2012. It was a hit and miss with reaching them...
Well there is no way I could have reached this goal because I never set a goal weight. The number on the scale hasn't been my motivator...feeling better has. And that was definitely accomplished. I feel better than I have felt in years.
This did NOT happen. I continued to procrastinate and make excuses. The truth is I am just not motivated to get this done.
So those were my goals for 2012. Even though I didn't accomplish them all I feel really good about the year. I also feel very optimistic about this year.
I haven't set any goals for this year. Really, I just want to be the best person I can be :)

- Get a new job by August (by the start of the new school year). Prior to this year I taught in a life skills class (Down's Syndrome, Autistic, ect) for more than 10 years. I LOVED my job. This year Lucifer decided I should be in the Behavior class (gangbangers, felons, emotionally disturbed) and I now do NOT love my job. I need to get back in a class where I feel like I am making a difference.
- Get to goal weight by December 31, 2012
Well there is no way I could have reached this goal because I never set a goal weight. The number on the scale hasn't been my motivator...feeling better has. And that was definitely accomplished. I feel better than I have felt in years.
- Finish writing my Thesis so I can graduate in May with my EdS. I am completely done with all of my coursework, I just have to finish my Thesis and go to defense. I really don't know why I have been procrastinating on this...I could have graduated in December.
This did NOT happen. I continued to procrastinate and make excuses. The truth is I am just not motivated to get this done.
- Clean out my attic. Every time I think about doing this I get overwhelmed about how much junk is in there and I don't even know where to start. This year I am just going to dive in and not worry about where to start...it doesn't matter where I start, only that I finish.
So those were my goals for 2012. Even though I didn't accomplish them all I feel really good about the year. I also feel very optimistic about this year.
I haven't set any goals for this year. Really, I just want to be the best person I can be :)
